TO increase or not to increase? That’s the question.
For her 21st birthday, Karen (not her real name) received what she calls the best gift of her life - brand new, bigger and fuller breasts.
The student/model went from being an A-cup to a C-cup, all thanks to her thoughtful older sister, Sam (not her real name).
“I had a boob job myself a few years ago, and it’s cheap to have it done in Thailand, so I flew my sister over and paid for the boobs.
“I think it’s a great gift and she’s very happy,” says Sam, who is also a model.
In Malaysia, you can get breast implants for about RM8,000, depending on the clinic. In Thailand, it’s almost half the price.
“Bigger breasts are assets, especially when it comes to showing off clothes - I feel more confident these days after getting my implants, and I can finally wear all those plunging necklines I’ve always dreamed about,” says Karen.
Karen and Sam have taken after many celebrities who believe that bigger breasts equal more opportunities.

To date, she has never admitted to having work done, unlike Carmen Electra (real name: Tara Leigh Patrick), whose man-made boobs are a little too large for her frame, but have supposedly helped her career in a big way.
Her Playboy cover picture sure got her a lot of attention, and now she’s a star in her own right (not just for being Dennis Rodman’s ex).
Another young star who admitted to having her breasts enhanced is reality show star Kourtney Kardashian, who says she regrets the decision.
The decision, interestingly enough, was made just before the premiere of her family’s then new show, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’.
When she was only 22 years old, Kourt went under the knife to blow up her B-cups to full Cs.
“It was so dumb. It was kind of an impulse. I just got the idea in my head one day, and that was that. There was no talking me out of it. It was so dumb,” said Kourtney at the time.
She also revealed that she suffers due to discomfort, especially when she’s lying down, because her breasts “don’t feel like a part of my body.”

She’s shown no interest in removing them, so the educated guess would be she changed her mind about the ‘dumbness’ of her decision after the show scored decent ratings with viewers.
Earlier this year, another reality star and actress, Denise Richards talked about her breast augmentation surgeries to Howard Stern.
She had her first surgery when she was 19.
“I was flat as a board, and I thought ‘Whoa, you can just buy them’ and stupidly had them done,” she said.
Unfortunately, she claims they were too big for her frame, and had them replaced - with bigger ones!
When those proved unsatisfactory, she got ANOTHER surgery done, and has finally stopped, for now.
Despite everything, she advises girls to stay away from surgery, warning them of the dangers associated with it.
Another reality star, Kelly Osbourne, has also spoken out about the issue.
“It bugs me that in Los Angeles, girls as young as 15 have boob jobs and put stuff in their lips. It is so wrong.
“I like someone with a messed up nose, it means they aren’t just a perfect cardboard cut-out,” said the 24-year-old.
However, she said she may get implants when her body begins to show signs of ageing.
“When my boobs get saggy I will have them lifted. I don’t want my nipples facing the floor,” she said.
Before you start thinking plastic surgery - especially the chest kind - is ok, you should know that there are risks involved, and many (the lucky ones that didn’t die) have walked away from surgery with problems that will last them a lifetime.
Although its rare, its not unknown for complications to be so severe that the breast ends up getting amputated, the chest wall can be injured, and your lungs and heart can be affected. You could even end up dead.
According to the National Institute of Medicine (in the United States), 25 to 40 per cent of people who get breast implants end up needing another operation to correct something wrong with the first one.
Sometimes, cultures of microorganisms are found growing inside saline implants when they’re removed.
This is because some of the newer implants contain vegetable oil, which is friendly to bacteria. Ew, right?
If you still think fake boobs are the way to go and you have RM8,000 to spare for a quick fix to what’s probably all in your mind, no one’s stopping you.
